The fashion industry has long been shaped by rigid standards, fleeting trends, and often unattainable expectations. Yet, there are models who dare to challenge the norm—turning their careers into platforms for artistry, self-expression, and unapologetic authenticity. One such model is Fernanda Valim, a rising talent who is reshaping fashion by simply staying true to herself.
In this exclusive interview with L’Officiel Colombia, Fernanda opens up about her journey—from childhood theater to global fashion runways—and how she’s transforming the industry with depth, intention, and identity.
From Theater to the Runway: A Model Who Plays Characters
Fernanda Valim’s path to modeling began not on a catwalk, but in children’s theater. This artistic foundation has deeply influenced her modeling style.
“I don’t see modeling as separate from acting,” she explains. “When you put on an outfit, it’s as if you’re embodying a character the clothing represents.”
To Fernanda, every photoshoot becomes a performance. Whether she’s in a delicate dress or a bold, structured ensemble, she channels emotion through her gaze and gestures, bringing each garment to life.
“If I’m wearing something sensual, I transform into a powerful woman. Fashion gives me a stage to express myself silently but profoundly.”
Her early years were steeped in creativity, thanks to a family that valued art.
“My mother was always involved in acting, and that shaped me. As a child, theater felt like a game—but one where you could live many lives in one,” she shares.
Breaking Fashion’s Rigid Standards
Like many in the industry, Fernanda has felt the weight of unrealistic beauty standards and body expectations.
“At first, I fit the profile of a commercial model—‘pretty and common,’” she recalls. “But to grow, I was told I had to be more sensual or more exotic.”
The constant pressure to mold herself into someone else’s idea of beauty took its toll.
“Body criticism can be devastating. It made me question my worth. But with time, I realized I didn’t have to change who I am to succeed.”
Fernanda’s evolution has been marked by a return to her true self.
“For years, I adapted to what others expected. But then I thought—if everyone’s the same, the one who dares to be different will always stand out.”
Now, her mission is clear: to be Fernanda Valim, without compromise.

Fashion, Identity, and International Perspective
Traveling the world has given Fernanda not only career opportunities, but also clarity about her identity and purpose.
“My first major experience abroad was in Milan. It was a cultural shock,” she recalls. “That’s when I understood that fashion is tied to a country’s history and identity.”
She views fashion as a global language of self-expression.
“Clothing says who we are. In India, the vibrant colors and patterns speak of deep traditions. That, too, is fashion,” she says.
While international work introduced her to new styles and perspectives, it also reinforced her belief in authenticity.
“When you leave your country, you ask yourself—‘Do I belong here?’ But eventually, I realized I didn’t need to follow every trend. What makes you unique is your strength.”
The Power of Authenticity
Today, Fernanda is committed to using her platform to empower others—especially emerging models.
“Be yourself,” she urges. “If you know who you are, no one else can tell you who to be.”
She stresses the importance of intellect, curiosity, and inner strength in the industry.
“Beauty is great, but intelligence is even better. We need more women in fashion with strong voices and personalities.”
With a loyal social media following, Fernanda uses her digital presence to share real stories—not just highlight reels.
“I want to show the challenges of this career and inspire people who dream of being in fashion.”
What’s Next: Big Dreams and Bold Moves
While Fernanda has already worked with top creatives and traveled the globe, she’s just getting started.
“One of my biggest dreams is to be featured in Vogue,” she reveals. “And this year, I’m focusing on new opportunities in New York.”
With a fierce sense of self and a clear vision for the future, Fernanda Valim is not just modeling clothes—she’s modeling courage, authenticity, and evolution.
